SMOK Novo Series

The SMOK Novo series has become a cornerstone of the brand’s lineup, known for its sleek design and draw-activated simplicity. Compact, reliable, and easy to use, these devices have carved out a strong place in the world of pod systems.

In order to understand the SMOK Novo series, it is imperative to take a holistic look at the company and identify the three major families that make up the SMOK ecosystem. At the core of the lineup are three distinct series: Novo, Nord, and RPM.

The Novo series is built for mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping. These devices are discreet, lightweight, and draw-activated, making them ideal for everyday use.

The middle of the road is the Nord series, which bridges the gap between MTL and direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping. These devices are much more versatile than the Novo series and offer more customization in terms of airflow and power.

On the more powerful end is the RPM series, which leans into pod mod territory. Designed for stronger output and bigger clouds, RPM devices are better suited for DTL users who prioritize performance.

While SMOK offers three distinct device series, not all pods are interchangeable between them. This guide focuses specifically on the Novo series.

Pod compatibility is especially salient when it comes to the performance and usability of a vaping device. Fortunately, the Novo series is one of the more forgiving with lots of cross compatibility across different devices.

Core Novo Pod Compatibility

Novo, Novo 2, and Novo 3 pods are largely cross-compatible, but are most commonly used with the following devices: Novo, Novo (2, 2S, 2C, and 2X), Novo 3, Propod, Novo Master, Master Box, and Novo Pro.

This shared pod compatibility makes it easy to switch between devices without needing to completely change your setup.

Standard Novo & Novo 2 Pods

Standard Novo and Novo 2 pods offer a wide variety of coil options to suit different preferences.

Common Resistance Options:

  • 1.2Ω
  • 1.4Ω (ceramic and quartz options)
  • 1.5Ω
  • 0.8Ω mesh
  • Novo 2 Variants
  • 1.0Ω mesh
  • 1.4Ω dual coil (MTL)
  • 0.8Ω dual coil (MTL and DTL styles)

  • Novo 2X Pods
  • 0.6Ω mesh
  • 0.9Ω mesh

These pods are broadly compatible with Novo, Novo 2, Novo 2S, Novo 2X.

What is especially prominent about the SMOK pod line is the variety of options available so users can really customize their experience to fit whatever their vibe is. However, for the most versatile option, many users opt for the Novo 3 pods.

Novo 3 Pods

Novo 3 pods are often considered the most widely compatible within the Novo series.

Although they were designed specifically for the Novo 3, they also work across multiple devices, including: Novo, Novo 2 series, Propod, Propod GT, Novo Master, and Master Box.

If you’re unsure which pod to choose, Novo 3 pods are often a safe and reliable option.

SLR Pods: The Next Generation

As the Novo lineup has evolved, so have its pods. SLR pods represent the newer generation, designed for improved performance and compatibility with newer devices. These pods are compatible with the following devices: Novo Eco, Novo SE, Novo GT, Novo Pro, Propod, Propod GT, and certain Novo 2 and 3 devices. SLR pods are primarily designed for newer devices such as the Novo Eco, SE, and GT series, with limited or inconsistent compatibility with older Novo devices.

Make Smart Purchasing Decisions

When purchasing a Novo series device, usually websites will put a compatibility chart together so you don’t buy the wrong pod. But this guide is meant to be a precursor to buying a vape device and the pods available for it. If you’re going to spend money on a nice device, just make sure the pod counterpart is compatible.

Once you understand how Novo, Novo 2, Novo 3, and SLR pods interact, choosing the right setup becomes much more straightforward. Whether you’re sticking with a classic device or upgrading to something newer, there’s a level of flexibility built into the system that makes it easy to adapt.

One of the reasons that the SMOK brand is a household name is its ability to design products that perform reliably when paired correctly. Use this guide as a building block to bigger and better clouds.
